What do I need for a useful extrusion quote?

Use a DXF or STEP file, or a clear filled cross-section picture with a known dimension. Confirm the units, material area, cut length, quantity, alloy, temper and finish. Picture tracing recovers geometry; review its scale and details before relying on the estimate. A production drawing must be approved before manufacturing.

Custom tooling changes the economics of small orders. A new custom mold has no small-order fee in this calculator; standard profiles under one metric tonne carry a $45 small-order fee. Stock or catalog examples can exclude new die tooling, so choose the correct profile type when comparing costs.
